Welcome back to week 3 of the 5 week special education blog hop! This week is all about back to school and forms that make your life easier!! Who doesn't want that?!?!
To be honest, I don't have any particular forms that I use regularly to help me prepare for the back to school time. I usually make myself a million lists that I carry around and mark up until I re-do the list. I like to do better for your guys, though! Here is a check list of all of the things I always have on my to-do list. These are my essentials:
For those of you who prefer to make your own list, here is a to-do list template.

I also spend parts my summer working on the first few days of school. I create a structured schedule that includes more fun and bonding activities. I have found that if you spend the first few days of school really getting to know your students and teaching them that you have all the good stuff (AKA reinforcers)! This makes establishing instructional control sooo much easier! I will discuss this more next week when we get into working with classroom teaching assistants.
Here is an example of one of my first few days last year:
8:00-8:30 Breakfast or centers
8:30-9 Morning meeting
9:00-9:30 Back to school craft
9:30-10:00 "Work" centers rotations
10:00-10:30 Snack & bathrooming
10:30-11:00 Gross motor play outside
11:00-11:30 "Work Centers rotations
11:30-12:00 Supplies checklists
12:30-1:00 Sensory activities
1:00-1:15 Group games
