Combing Science & Crafts

My last post was on combining reading and math (click here to see that post), so here is one on combining science and art. Here we are working on labeling parts of a fish, sequencing, following directions and reading. It was a fun way to wrap up our ocean unit.

We used a fish bowl template out of an old Mailbox magazine, but you could always draw the bowl. Step 1 was to make an orange hand print in the bowl with your thumb pointing down.

Next, we added a googly eye and drew a mouth. Most of my kiddos made a big smile on their fish!

To finish students had to cut out labels and attach them to the proper fish parts.

I adapted this lesson off of a pin on Pinterest. There are many versions out there, but this is the one that fit the science standards and goals we were working on.
